I’m off to Reading until monday!!!

im off to Reading Festival see you next week!Holly xox

These are for my friends Pebe and Tori who are getting married this week. It’s very exciting because they are the first out of our group of friends to get hitched! Ive been working on these in secret for the last couple of months but i can finally post a picture because now i have given them to the bride and groom to be! They are made of resin, but the necks are poseable. I will try and get some more pics on the big day of them on the cake!

This funny Pentapus appeared in my garden the other day looking for a place to stay, i gave her a shrimp sandwich and now she lives with me!

She has been in the pipeline for a while, but didn’t turn out quite how i expected, im not sure about her just yet.

What do you think?

The Octopal

These are from back in June but i only just remembered i had photos of them 0__0. They were a birthday present for my boyfriend, they go in a black fleece bag that has a face on it too.

Each one has a different expression (i like the shouting one the best!)

I thought that for if hes going to be a crusty juggler anyways he may as well do it in style :P

Monster juggling balls (more…)

Here is a little peek at the direction some of my new designs are going to go in. Ive learnt a lot from my last set of plushes, the little girls in monster suits. I enjoyed setting myself a limit of only producing 10 of them but i think making all 10 in a row has made my blog a big stagnent.

My next line of plushes will come along a bit more sporadically and mixed up with other things – while making the little girls i have been coming up with lots of new ideas that I’m desperate to make as plushes!

I am also working on some cake toppers for a friends wedding which i will post pictures of in the next couple of weeks, i am very excited about getting them finished!!

A peek at whats to come

Last Wednesday Hollypop.co.uk was featured on the plasticandplush.com blog. I only just got back from a festival so its gotten lost on their page under all the Comic Con reports, but click here to read the article.

I am feeling very proud!

The festival was fantastic, it was lovely having a few days off but now i’m back i’ve got to get busy busy busy working on my new designs! I also need to try and get the smell of fires and hippies out of my hair :P

This is number 9 of 10 – only one more to go!! This little one is wearing a zombie costume, RAR! She has already found a home but the other little girls in monster suits are avaliable in my shop.

I am really excited about the last one of these little girls and i will post her picture soon, i am also excited about what will be coming next but that is a secret for now! ha!

You’ll get to meet them soon! :)

The last two!

This little guy has been around for a while but i only just got a tripod for my camera so these are my first pictures of him in the dark that aren’t blurry! He is a 2″ Qee (I think he was an alien? I remember him having a silver head) keychain. I Removed the keychain attatchment and all the existing paint and gave him a new neon pink look with lots of shiny shiny laquer. In black light he glows even better because the UV paint AND the phosphorescent plastic plastic glow.

These are the basic patterns i’ve been using but you can use any pattern you like as long as the result is a 5″x5″ square :)

Each square is 5″ x 5″ (13 x 13 cm). I’ve been crocheting them using a 4mm needle and mostly 4 ply yarn (im just using up random bits and bobs of yarn so theres some chunky and thinner stuff thrown in there, too)

Knitting Pattern:
Using 4mm needles cast on 26 stitches, knit 40 rows, cast off.  Simples

Crochet Pattern: Here’s the pattern i’ve *mostly* been using (As the wool has been irregular thickesses i’ve sometimes omitted a row of 3-dc clusters, or swaped the last dc round for a sc to keep them the same size)

With Color A, ch 5, join to form a ring.

Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as a dc in this and all following rnds), 2 dc in ring; (ch 3, 3 dc in ring) 3 times; ch 3; join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3; sl st to the next ch 3 space).

Project Blankie is a huuuge sofa throw i’m making out of simple 5″ knitted and crocheted squares. If you knit or crochet i’d love for you to join in! I will be  sharing pictures of my progress on the net and hope it will inspire my crafty friends from around the world to knit or crochet me a 5″ square and i’ll add it to the blanket, so the whole thing will tell a story. How cool would that be?! :D

I Produced this plush version of the Fido Character from Dork Hunters From Outer Space was made for Character Toys back in 2008. From style guides and concept drawings i worked with them to produce a number of prototypes before they settled on the closed eyed version pictured below. From this i supplied them with full colour prototypes and patterns which were then put into mass production. Fido was created from high quality anti-pil fleece with brushed nylon and felt detailing, every part of him was made from soft fabric including his boggly eyes. The retail version featured a soundchip in the foot that quoted soundbites from the series when pressed.

Fido is one of many projects i worked on for Character’s Dork Hunters range over 2008, including another plush which was never put into production and a range of action figures.
