This weeks Instructable shows you how to make this adorable Gloomy Bear necklace. I thought i’d take a break from sewing instructables this week and show you how to make something from polymer clay. Even if you’ve never sculpted anything before this Gloomy Bear pendant is really easy to make. Included is a template for various different sizes, He makes a great keyring or cell phone strap, too

This custom has just been completed and shipped out to America, this was request to look like an old sepia photograph, so i cast the face in a slightly dulled creamy colour and picked creamy-toffee colour fabrics to match. Her body is made from a curly faux mohair with a dark backing so it really looks old. When she was complete i ‘aged’ her all over with an airbrush, i’m so pleased with how she came out!
Heres a couple of quick snaps of some paintings i’ve been working on the last few weeks. They’re all acrylic on paper, i work in a sketchbook because its easy for me to carry around, the one in the pictures is A3 i want to see if i can get a bigger one!

This jointed polar bear plush was a private comission. She is made from a variety of white and cream furs giving him lots of textures and feels. Her body is made from super soft polar fleece and airbrushed along the seams for a vintage look. This one-off jointed bear is around 12″ tall (not including her ears) The face is a resin cast of my own original sculpt. Her face has been painted and sealed with layers of matte lacquer with gloss accents on her eyes and lips. She has weighted feet and a weighted bottom and free moving teddy bear joints in her shoulders and hips so she can sit and stand unassisted.
I took my latest custom project on a little trip out to take some pictures. I haven’t been updating my shop much lately as i’ve been working through custom orders. I loved making this this bear, she’s definitely a favorite! She has a coarse curly purple fur body with a super soft pink fur head and tail, her inner ears and foot pads have been accented with a pink on pink candy stripe fabric. I usually leave the hair matte on my plushes but for this bear i glossed the hair and added a peralescent powder to the lacquer so it shimmers and gleams in the sun. She was an absolute joy to make
I’ve just added a new full size plush to my etsy shop, a not-so-scary zombie. She has weighted feet and a weighted bottom and free moving teddy bear joints in her shoulders and hips so she can sit and stand unassisted. Her head is sewn on but still has enough movement to allow you to pose her easily.
She is for sale here Edit: sorry she is now sold
I think the little bear looks so cute next to one of my big plushes! He turned out soo much smaller than i imagined, he’s only 5″ tall
It makes me want to try making an even smaller one, The only thing limiting the small-ness is the joints, so if i can do away with them it will only be my nimbleness and eyesight keeping me from making a smaller bear
It was fun making a little bear but i think this project will be on hold for a while as i’ve got lots of custom orders to work on.
The little blue bear is not for sale but the big pink bear for sale here.
I keep my tiny custom bear by Catherine of Cayas Creations on my computer desk and he inspired me to try making a little bear myself. I used one of the small faces i usually use for brooches and the smallest joints i could find. I dont think i’ll ever have the tiny bear skills that Catherine has but he sure was fun to make!
This plush had been a long time in the making but i finally finished him last night, meet the Monsterpillar! He has 6 poseable jointed legs and a jointed neck. As with my bears he has a resin face i cast by hand from my own sculpt. I’m really happy with the way he turned out – i was worried the new monster faces would look too plain compared to the little girls faces but it gives me a lot more scope for painting each one differently. I have already started another!
Pink jointed bear avaliable in my shop. Edit: sorry she’s now sold.

She is made from bobbly hot pink fabric with a soft fluffy pink head and has red and white striped inner ears and soft PVC paws. She is totally posable and able to stand and sit unassisted. As with all my toys she is totally unique and i will not be making another one!

Yesterday some of my animals came with me for a walk around the woods, and look who we found – a funny pink bear!
Pink Bear was specially made for a show i’m doing over the summer, I have a couple of new totally different plushes too, but i’ll save those for another day
For sale in my Etsy shop! Edit: sorry, she is now sold
“This little raccoon-bear is a one-off art toy. She’s around 12″ tall (not including her ears) Her face is an original sculpt by Holly Stanway (me!), which I then handcast in resin, painted and sealed with 3 layers of matte lacquer and 5 layers of gloss on her eyes and lips.
She has weighted feet and paws and free moving teddy bear joints in her shoulders, hips and neck so she can sit and stand unassisted. She has a soft stripey raccoon tail.
I absolutely love making these little guys and have a great time picking out soft tactile fabrics to make each one a joy to hold, and i hope that shows! She has been made with every care and is designed to be hugged to your hearts content, but she is really an art piece and i would not recommend her for a young child because of the long pile fur fabric and painted face.”
Here is the latest ALS desktop featuring rainbow bear! She feels like a bit of a celebrity now she’s transformed into a desktop for your computer or iPhone. Click here to see: Fullscreen / Widscreen / iPhone1 / iPhone2

Heres some pictures of my pink teddy girl in her new home, all the way in Australia with my friend Linda! These are Lindas pictures, her flickr is here. Its really nice to see that she is going to be well loved in her new home, and it gives you an idea of the size of my plushes which i think often look smaller than they really are in photos. I am working on a new bear over the holidays and will post some pictures soon!
Phew! Finished work for the Christmas holidays now, i have two lovely weeks off! I have some gifts to wrap and then i’m all ready for Christmas. I have a couple of projects i want to work on while i have some free time, i’m most excited about this Sackboy pattern i’m going to knit. I bought the magazine and wool a couple of weeks ago and i’ve had to hide them under my bed so i wouldnt be tempted to start it and neglect finishing off christmas presents ha ha!
To help spread a bit of festive cheer here is my Snow Bear painting transformed into a desktop for your computer or iPhone.
